Bicycle Tag

Sharing a tag I made using images from the April kit of the month from Unity. I used my Tombow markers to color the bike and grass. Then I grabbed some stencils and sponged on some ink. I didn't like how it looked at this point, so I added some washi tape to the end, and sponged around the tag with blue ink.

Still didn't think it looked right, so I tore some patterned paper and attached it to the top. Tied on 4 strands of baker's twine into a bow, and it was good enough for me! I will more than likely add this to my personal journal.

This is a large tag, measuring 7 1/2 inches long. They are tied to bundles of tires we get in from work, and once they are put away, I bring them home. There is a large sticker label on the backs of each one, but if they go into journals, it will never be seen! Better than throwing these into the trash I think!

Had a play with the Distress Oxides. Unity Stamp Co. shares quick tip videos every day, and this was one I tried. You stamp the image with the ink, spray with water until it bleeds a lot, dry, then repeat. I used three different colors on the flower, then the top stamping is a Hybrid ink from MFT.

The background I did last, and I sponged on the ink, then just played with the water and heat gun until I was happy. I haven't attached this to anything yet, but it is done on a piece of T.H. water color paper in A2 size. The floral stamp is from a Unity SMAK kit.

Easter

Here is the Easter card I gave to my Mom. I used this cute bunny image from Unity, and did just a little water coloring on it. I kept the other colors on the light side, sponged the white doily a soft pink using Worn Lipstick ink, and plaid paper from My Favorite things. Some yellow twine was added to match the bunny, which I die cut out.

We had a laid back Easter Sunday. Starting off with my son looking for eggs in the yard. Our crab apple tree is in full bloom.

Then off to my Mom's for dinner in the afternoon. We took a walk down to the bridge, and were skipping rocks across the river. This is a very narrow part of the river, and it has flooded over that bridge many times. Luckily it has not made it up to Mom's house ever, which is only a block away.

Other uses for Stamps and Dies

I was inspired to make this card following the 'Showers' theme for the Paper Smooches challenge this month:

I started with the rainbow, and did it a couple different ways before deciding to just cut single strips of water color paper. I sponged on Distress ink to each piece, added water to the top, and let it run down to the bottom. I followed the true color pattern of ROYGBIV, for the rainbow.

I knew that I was going to use the PS Loopy Leaf die for the rain drops, the negative pieces are the perfect shape! I definitely needed a sun, but I only have 6 PS stamp sets, and none have a sun, so I had to get creative with them. I used the Shadows stamp set. You can see in the photo that these are solid ovals meant for putting a shadow under your images or scenes, but I used them for making the sun and it's rays. I sponged around the orange sun with yellow to give it a more glowing look, I thought the orange was too dark.

The sentiment comes from the PS Word Salad set, and gave it a rainbow effect as well by inking and masking as I went along it. Only took me two tries to get the colors all the way across evenly :)

I like how it came out, and will be perfect for any occasion, or even for one of my journals with an added photo. Thanks so much for visiting!

Journal Card

Today I have made a journal card following the colors from the April Joy Clair challenge:

I started by stamping the rose from the Joy Clair Paper Tattoos set onto Bristol smooth card stock. I colored it in with colored pencils. This stamp set comes with a full alphabet to stamp your own sentiment on the banner. I stamped 'hope'. Then I stamped the Lovely Swirl Background with versamark and clear heat embossed it. I sponged over this panel with Tip Top Toupe ink from Stampin Up.

The gray panel is a light gray card stock that I sponged with Hickory Smoke Distress ink to get the light black color. The light blue panel was also sponged to a darker color with Broken China. I glued the layers together and popped up the rose panel. This will make a nice panel to add into one of my journals.

Coffee Gift Box

I made this box a few days ago, and just now getting to share. I followed the sketch and color challenge at Your Next Stamp:

The box is a simple pizza style that I saw on youtube, and decorated it with the cute YNS papers from the Hugs and Kisses pad, and the brown polka dot is from the Woodlands pad. I added the YNS coffee word die cut and gumdrops for accents. I free hand cut the coffee cup as I don't have their die.

Perfect little box for putting flavored creamer singles in, cute stir sticks, or even a gift card to their favorite coffee shop!

Tie Dye with Distress Inks

                I was inspired to make this card following the challenge at Double D with the theme of Neons/ Brights:

I don't have anything that is Neon, so I went with the brights. I started with a piece of water color paper, and sponged on Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, and Seedless Preserves in a circular pattern. I put water droplets in the yellow center, then blew through a straw to get a tie dye effect. Once dry, I die cut this out with the T-Shirt framelits from Stampin Up.

For the peace sign, I die cut a framed circle and three straight pieces, and sponged more ink onto them. This time I just spritzed with water, shook them a little, and used a rag to soak up the excess water. The card panel was sponged and sprayed the same way.

I used my Stamp Perfect tool to stamp the words from a Stampin Up retired set. Once assembled, I added some flower rhinestones. In real life this card is much brighter than the photo. My Ottlite may have been a little to close :)
