Vanity Box

I followed a YouTube tutorial on how to make this cute box. I didn't take a photo of it open, but it basically opens in half. The top and bottom pieces are made exactly the same. I followed the color challenge at Your Next Stamp for this:

The card stock I used is from Stampin Up in the colors Rose Red, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, and Whisper White. I used the cute gingham patterned paper from YNS to dress it up. I added a button and twine from my stash for the closure.

The hang tag was made with YNS dies, and I stamped the sentiment with Real Red ink from the YNS set Smiley Happy Critter Crew Two, and tied it onto the handle with more twine.

This is a good sized box, so lots of room for a gift. I think it's really cute! Thanks so much for your visit!

Watercolor Dragonfly

I had a play today with my new stamping tool and the Unity kit of the month for January. To make this, I used the Stamp Perfect tool, and positioned my stamp like usual onto the lid. The paper is watercolor, so I inked the stamp with Stampin Write markers one color at a time, spritzed with water then stamped. Since your paper and stamp stay in position, you just keep inking, spritzing, and stamping until you have enough colors that you like. The tool was a big help again!

I took the paper out, and sponged Peacock Feathers Distress ink all around the edge, and added droplets of water, and dabbed it off. Gave it a nice background. The body of the dragonfly was watercolored with a brush, since it's an open image. I then dried the whole panel with my heat tool.

I placed the panel back in the tool, and chose a sentiment from the stamp kit. I inked this twice, since it didn't show up well the first time. I used the Black Olive ink from Your Next Stamp. Again, I'm happy with this new tool!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Adorable Bunny

I was so excited to get this month's stamp kit from Unity, this bunny is just so cute! I love it! And he's not just for Easter either, Spring, just because, thinking of you, anything really.

I colored him with my Spectrum markers and used the colorless blender this time to try and give him a fuzzy furry look. I cut the panel into a tag shape, added some washi to the bottom and an enamel dot on top.

The card base was stamped with a different monthly kit heart image. I added a doily and a die cut heart for accents. The sentiment is from another monthly Unity kit as well. I think this made a really sweet card!

I just got some adorable otter stamps today, that I will be coloring up next. Such cute critters I have to play with :)

Thanks so much for your visit!

Unity Color Challenge

Unity Stamp Co.'s Facebook group has a color challenge this time, pink, red, and chocolate brown. A sweet color combo, and perfect for Valentine's.

I've just now used this image from the October kit of the month. She's colored with various Spectrum markers. I don't have the pink collection, so not able to do much shading on those parts, so I went over the pink with clear Wink of Stella for a little sparkle.

The dies I used are from two different Spellbinders sets, and I colored some rhinestones red for the corners.

Thanks for having a look, and have a creative weekend!

Puppy Valentine

Sharing my latest card using some new stamp sets from Your Next Stamp. The adorably cute Love & Smiles set which has three animals holding balloons, and lots of different sentiments to go along with them. And also the Mini Heart Ink Splatter for the background. I'm following along with the sketch at the YNS challenge:

I colored the puppy with my Spectrum markers and partially die cut him out. I wanted the heart to go beyond the edge, so I hand cut around it. The card base was stamped randomly with matching ink and I added a strip of heart paper wrapped with twine. The little sentiment was stamped, punched and attached below the bow.

Thank you for your visit!

Sweet Birdies

These cute birds are from Unity's December Kit of the Month that I'm just getting around to use. I colored them with various alcohol markers from Spectrum and Letraset. I didn't color them with any specific bird in mind, I just knew what colors I wanted them to be.

The sentiment is from the same kit, and I didn't want to over embellish, so I just added a few enamel dots from C.C. Designs, punched the top heart border, and a strip of pretty, retired patterned paper from Stampin Up!

Your visit is appreciated, thank you!

Personal Journal

I have started a personal journal, to jot down thoughts and feelings, no pictures required. This is another cookbook I found. No harm in this one, it's a microwave cookbook from 1982. Microwaves have changed quite a bit since then, and it's fun to read the intro to the book!

This is my very first page using various Unity kits. It started off a mess, with the flower not wanting to color well. So I just water colored over the whole image and left it at that. I thought about covering it completely, but decided not to. I must embrace what it is. Just like in real life. I may cover over my true feelings for a bit, then I tell myself to just let go. Hold my head high, think positive, and count my blessings.

I random stamped a few more images, then sponged brown ink around for a bit of distressing. My thoughts were written pertaining to that moment, and in the end, it's a perfect start to my journal. I must embrace the mess, and move along!

Thanks so much for visiting, your time is much appreciated!

Yvonne has invited me to share this page with the Art Journal Journey blog, where the theme is 'Tell Me A Story'. I think this page tells a little story, so thank you!

Winter Cottage

Sharing my latest card using a new to me stamp from C.C. Designs called Winter Cottage. It's really cute I think, and could also be used for Valentine's. I colored it with my Spectrum and Letraset markers. The sentiment is from the C.C. Designs set Happy Sentiments. I also added a few of their enamel dots as well. The white panel was sponged with Blushing Bride ink and glued to a Pool Party card base.

I've been starting my house organization. I've let it go for too long, and it feels good to have a place for everything. We live in a 100+ year old house, and there are only built in closets upstairs. So trying to store things on the main floor has been a struggle. But it's coming along, and that makes me happy. A great way to start off the new year! I've also got loads of ideas for crafts, and will be happy to start them. Tonight I will start another cookbook journal. This one is just for me to write my thoughts for the day or week. A decorative diary I suppose, with pretty stamps and papers!

Thanks for having a look, and have a wonderful day!
