Animal Birthday

I've made a fun children's, or a kidadult card using the Quirky Animals Set One stamps from Your Next Stamp. This is the same set I used on yesterday's snail card. I just got this stamp set, and the animals are so fun! I have the parrot to color up yet!

I'm playing along with the YNS sketch #41 challenge:

 YNSSketch41

I colored all the images with various Spectrum markers, then used a paper punch on them. I chose a bright, happy yellow and die cut some layering squares. The fun cake paper is from SU! and added a strip of ribbon on the bottom of it. The sentiment is from the same set, and is stamped right onto the card base.

Snail Mail

Playing along with the color challenge this week at Splitcoast Stampers. The colors given today are Tangerine Tango, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight with the dessert option of 5 layers.

I accomplished the 5 layers using Cherry On Top designer paper, a die cut and stamped layer using a Unity SMAK stamp, two punched circles, one which I paper pierced. The snail image and sentiment is from Your Next Stamp called Quirky Animals Set One. I colored him with Spectrum Noir, SU! Blendabilities and Letraset alcohol markers.

The rectangle die is from Avery Elle, and punches from Stampin Up. The markers I used are Stampin Up Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities, Spectrum markers in BT2, BT4 and BT5, Letraset markers in Canary Y367. Also added matching Bermuda Bay bakers twine

Mixed Media Canvas

Starting a new venture in my paper crafts, mini canvas'. I've started larger canvas' before, but just was never happy with how they were turning out. My friend Camille makes the sweetest little canvas', so I was inspired by her to make some myself.

Lots of different materials were used on this. I started with a piece of chipboard and covered it with sticky back canvas(need more of that stuff!). Painted on a few coats of acrylic, then sponged ink for the base.

The two flowers were stamped onto tissue paper, then colored with alcohol markers, cut out then glued down with modge podge. I also added some crumpled up tissue to the corners, and inked over them when dry.

The heart border was punched, then I used it as a stencil, and went over it with colored stencil paste. I also added a few tiny buttons and some hemp twine. The sentiment was also stamped onto tissue paper and glued down. It smeared a bit from the glue, it was stamped with dye ink, not permanent ink. But it's alright! Rubber stamps are from Unity.

I gave this to my friend at work, and she thought it was very sweet, and that makes me happy!

I like the smaller scale of the canvas, this one measures 4" square. I made another last night that is 3" square, and I'll share that one later today. Completely different from this one.

Thanks so much for visiting!!

Embossed Butterflies

Sharing a card I made last night doing some heat embossing, something I haven't done for awhile! Both stamps are from Unity, the butterfly from the April S.M.A.K. kit and the sentiment from the April K.O.T.M. kit.

I tried taking a few pictures, but my Ottlite was just too bright. The embossing powder is Pool Party, but it doesn't show well in the pic. It really is a pretty blue! I also distressed the edges with the ranger tool.

I debated whether to add any other embellishments, but decided not too. Left it CAS style.

Thank you for having a look!

Your Next Stamp

Sharing a card I made with my very first Your Next Stamp image called Jessica with Her Puppy.

I started off coloring her with my alcohol markers, and totally messed up her hair! I wanted to try black hair again, but it wasn't a good coloring day. So instead of scrapping it, I decided to do some paper piecing.

Her hair I stamped with white onto black card stock, and the coat is stamped onto patterned paper, and fussy cut both out. Everything else is colored in. I like paper piecing, it gives a totally different look to your images!

I am going to enter the Your Next Stamp challenge for the first time with this. They offer a sketch or color board, I went with the colors:

Water Stamping

After my thoughts on my previous post, I wanted to do something different today. Something quick, easy, but with a pretty effect. So I tried some water stamping. I've done this before years ago, but only with background stamps, and a different inking technique. I just love how this turned out, a card I will keep! ;)

So my inking technique is totally different than anything I've tried before, nothing new I'm sure, but it's pretty cool! Here is a pic of the supplies I've used:

The gorgeous stamp is a big one from the April S.M.A.K. kit from Unity. I inked it with 3 colors using the foam blender tool. This is the new-to-me part. I inked just the edge of the foam tool and pounced the ink onto the stamp. Once I was done, I spritzed the stamp with water, then stamped it onto my prepared watercolor paper.

I cut 3 strips and adhered them to another piece for my stamping surface. I'm following a sketch for the Unity Facebook challenge. I didn't want a large sentiment, so I used a small one from the Unity Plenty of Pandas set.

So, a happy stamping day for me today, and that's a good thing!!

Little Darlings

Finally sharing the cute red head I colored a few weeks ago. This image is from Little Darlings, and is colored with various alcohol markers.

The stamping on the background comes from Stampin Up and Simon Says Stamp. The main image doesn't come with a sentiment, so I've used one from the same SSS set, and made it into a banner.

I admire those who color so beautifully with alcohol markers, they really are artists. Not sure they are the right fit for me, as I've been using them for about two years, and haven't advanced much!! But, it's still fun to do, and I won't stop!

And I love sharing my makes here on my blog, and I get very mixed emotions of the lack of visitors and comments. I've had this blog for almost 6 years, and the attention has slacked off to almost nothing. Even my pinterest board gets hardly any repins. I keep posting anyway, but sometimes I go in my craft room to make something, and then I get the 'well, what's the point?' attitude, and don't craft at all. I have boxes and boxes of cards that just sit there, and I'm kinda getting burnt out on them. I've tried a few other things to try and spark my interest like journals and ATC's, but it's the same as making cards to me.

So maybe soon I'll find something else to do with my paper crafting. I have loads of supplies, it's a shame not to put them to good use. Maybe someone will give me a few suggestions. And I don't do digital crafting. I have no program to use.

Thank you for visiting, and reading what's been on my mind!
